The origins of Park Road Bowling Club are linked with the former Brine Baths Hotel.
When the Hotel first opened in 1893 having been converted from the original Shrewbridge Hall, the grounds then known as Shrewbridge Park were laid out with extensive gardens, tennis courts, a 9 hole golf course and a bowling green.
Sometime in 1905 or early 1906 a group of professional gentlemen met together with a view of forming a gentleman's bowling club. Permission was granted and a new wooden pavilion was erected in the spring of 1906.
The old wooded pavilion was demolished at the end of the 2000 season and the current brick club house was built over that winter and officially opened on the 29th March 2001. The photo shows the current club house with the centenary celebrations in June 2006 to mark the clubs first 100years of existence.
